Lily was still thinking about Malakai has Sandra escorted her to her third class of the morning. He had been genuinely happy to see her when he had first spoken to her, as if he had wanted nothing else, but when Wes had walked in, the feelings coming from Malakai had been strange. He had felt disappointed, happy and trapped at the same time.
When they arrived at Lily’s next class, AP Calculus, Lily walked in after thanking Sandra who quickly left to make her way to her own class. She took her seat next to the door and was retrieving her school books from her bag when she felt Malakai walk into the classroom. She looked up and her eyes confirmed what her head already knew. Malakai looked at her and smiled, making his way to the desk behind her.
“Wow!” he said. “Twice in a semester! That’s quite a change for us.”
He had noticed. Like her, he had noticed they never had class together before.
“Yep!” she said, playing along. “At this rate, we’ll have everybody wonder who we paid!”
Malakai chuckled. Lily could hardly believe how handsome he really was. Again, she was stricken by his light green eyes.
“Any others joining us this time?” she asked, glancing towards the door.
“I doubt it,” he said with another chuckle. “Jocks and AP classes don’t usually mix very well.”
“But you’re in it,” she stated.
“Well, I’m somewhat of a special case among jocks, really.”
Before Lily could respond, the teacher called for their attention and began roll call.
